The association of Catholic teachers criticized the idea, saying it “belittles the role of nuns.” An Italian priest announced Sunday he’s organizing “Miss Sister” 2008, an online beauty pageant for nuns. He said the pageant would make them more visible in the Roman Catholic Church, and it would help fight the stereotype that nuns are old and dour.

The contest will start in September on a blog run by Rev. Antonio Rungi. Antonio Rungi said nuns suggested the idea. Nuns will fill out a profile including information about their life and vocation as well as a photograph. A citation for Nishita Shah by the US business magazine says “Nishita Shah” is the biggest shareholder and director in dry-bulk shipper Precious Shipping, founded by her father Kirit. A licensed pilot, “Nishita Shah” is single and also runs a clothier company called Burn Baby and is launching her own fashion label, Nsha, in three continents at the end of the year.

Leading the Forbes list is beverage maker Chaleo Yoovidhya with a net worth of $4 billion, followed by beermaker Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi ($3.9 billion), and the Chirathivat family ($2.8 billion), who have interests in retail, property and hotels.

“My dad said I could study anything I wanted as long as it was business,” is her favorite speech.

Not business alone she concentrated on, but “Nishita Shah” also has gone through something “creative” as she like to say. Her father suggested that she had fulfilled one of his own dreams and study flying. She earned an instrument rating for a single-engine plane and a private pilot’s license. Joe Guintu of Los Angeles and his girlfriend Ivette Flores took a trip last year to Hawaii, where Guintu decided to take a surfing lesson. After some brief instruction on the beach, he was in the water and managed to catch a wave almost immediately.
