Alicia Sacramone waited a considerable time for her balance beam routine to start, and the nerves seemed to overcome her. She fell off the beam after her mount from the springboard. “Alicia Sacramone” recovered for the rest of her performance, but knew it was going to be subpar.
Her teammates tried to console her afterward, but Sacramone had a hard time fighting off tears as she waited for her score, which was 15.100.
Then Alicia Sacramone was first up on the floor exercise and fell at the end of a tumbling pass. She also stepped out of bounds on her last pass and scored 14.125.
Alicia Marie Sacramone (born December 3, 1987) is an American artistic gymnast. A member of the U.S. National Team, she is the 2005 World Champion on floor exercise, the 2008 U.S. National Champion on vault, and a seven-time medalist at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She is also a member of the 2008 U.S. Olympic team.
