Miss Sister 2008 an Beauty Pageant For Nuns run by the Rev. Antonio Rungi
Italian priest organizes online “Miss Sister 2008″ beauty contest for nuns. Father Guido Sarducci impressed. The “Miss Sister 2008″ contest will start in September on a blog run by the Rev. Antonio Rungi.
“We are not going to parade nuns in bathing suits,” Antonio Rungi said. “But being ugly is not a requirement for becoming a nun. External beauty is gift from God, and we mustn’t hide it.”
The association of Catholic teachers criticized the idea, saying it “belittles the role of nuns.” An Italian priest announced Sunday he’s organizing “Miss Sister” 2008, an online beauty pageant for nuns. He said the pageant would make them more visible in the Roman Catholic Church, and it would help fight the stereotype that nuns are old and dour.
The contest will start in September on a blog run by Rev. Antonio Rungi. Antonio Rungi said nuns suggested the idea. Nuns will fill out a profile including information about their life and vocation as well as a photograph. It will be up to them to choose whether to pose with the traditional veil or with their heads uncovered. Can’t wait for “Miss Sister 2008″
